GEARING UP FOR A FUN-FILLED SCHOOL YEAR
As the warm days of summer continue, our family is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming homeschool year. With August 1st marking our start date, there’s a delightful mix of anticipation and preparation in the air. Here’s a peak into our journey as we get ready for a new season of learning adventures at home.
This year, we’re mixing and matching different curricula to create a customized educational experience for our kids. While we, the parents, have eagerly gone through the curricula, lessons, and projects from various resources, our children won’t see the curriculum until the first day of school. The excitement will build up to a big reveal, making the start of school year feel like a grand adventure waiting to unfold.
While our curriculum has been sorted, our book list is still in progress. Book shopping is always a delightful treasure hunt, as we seek stories that will inspire, inform, and ignite a love of reading in our children. From classic literature to modern tales, we aim to create a well-rounded reading list that complements our diverse curriculum and sparks curiosity. Who knows what gems we’ll discover?
One of our favorite annual traditions is redecorating our homeschool room. Every year, the kids head off to Nana’s for a couple of days, giving me the chance to start from scratch with decorating and organizing. This year, I’m diving into decluttering old materials, setting up dedicated learning zones, and adding new touches to make the space both functional and inspiring. The goal is to foster an environment where our children can focus, explore, and thrive. It’s like setting up our very own learning haven from the ground up!

With just a couple of weeks left until our official start date, we’re savoring these last days of summer by making the most of every moment. We’re soaking up the sunshine, enjoying spontaneous outings, and relishing the unstructured time together. This way, we all feel rejuvenated and ready to embark on our new educational journey.
